Summer Research & Post-Graduation Access to Legal Databases: Returning Students

2024 Summer Access and Graduate information

Rising 2Ls and 3Ls will have continued access to all LSU Law databases including Lexis, Westlaw, and Bloomberg Law.

Using Lexis this summer:

You may use Lexis without restrictions, even for work related research. Your firm may prefer you to use their Lexis ID for billing purposes.

Using Westlaw this summer:

You may use Westlaw for educational purposes (i.e. class, study abroad courses, write-on competitions, law review/journal work, moot court, clinic, research for a professor, field placement for credit ). If you are working for a firm, you must use their Westlaw access. Your cap of 180 hours of use a month remains in effect. Remember to log out if you are not actively using Westlaw.

Using Bloomberg Law this summer:

You may use Bloomberg Law without restrictions. Your firm may prefer you to use their Bloomberg ID for billing purposes.

Other Law School databases:

You may use these without restriction. If you access the databases from off-campus, you will need to use the links found in the library's database list and log-in using your myLSU account information.
