Journal Subcite Tips: Newspapers

Shortcuts for LSU Law Junior Associates.

R. 16.6 Newspapers

Finding newspapers can be tricky. Some journal editors still want the original print format, but LSU only has a few and most are only kept for a few months. Most databases archive just the text, not the page image. An important exception to that rule is the New York Times, which we now have access to in PDF from 1851-2010.

When searching for a newspaper:
  • Start by searching the Law Library catalog for the newspaper as a journal title.
  • If you don't find it in the Law Library, then search for the newspaper holdings at LSU Library (likely in microfiche).
  • If it is not available from main campus, submit an interlibrary loan request.
